Partnering with Colleges Wales: Embedding Youth Voice and Disrupting Harm in Post-16 Education

We’re proud to be working with Colleges Wales on a bold initiative to centre youth voice, co-production, and prevention in post-16 education across Wales.

This work emerged from a Taith funded project to create a Community of Practice (CoP) between Wales and Canada on engaging male learners, in an effort to tackle misogyny, promote respectful relationships, and create safer, more inclusive college environments.

Together, we’ve delivered two powerful regional events in South and North Wales, hosted by ColegauCymru. These events brought together students, staff, and practitioners to explore practical responses to urgent challenges like misogyny, peer-on-peer abuse, and harmful attitudes and behaviours.

Each event featured a keynote talk by Matt Brown, co-founder of She Is Not Your Rehab, speaking directly to male learners about healing, accountability, and emotional literacy. In the afternoon, Our Voice Our Journey led planning sessions with staff and learners creating space for reflection, co-design, and bold thinking. With online input from Canadian CoP members, the events became a truly international exchange of ideas and strategies. .

 What we’ve produced:

  • Insights reports capturing student and staff reflections
  • Recommendations for action to support colleges in embedding prevention and youth voice
  • Strategic guidance for future interventions and initiatives

We’re now working with Colleges Wales to further design and implement solutions  ensuring they’re scalable, inclusive and grounded in the realities of young people lives.
