Let’s talk about REWIRED

A flexible prevention and early intervention network

Boys are growing up in a world that is actively shaping how they see girls and women. The manosphere, Andrew Tate, misogynistic content algorithmically pushed to young people’s feeds — these aren’t fringe concerns anymore. They’re in classrooms, youth clubs, and sports settings every day. And the practitioners working in those spaces are expected to respond, challenge and redirect — often without the tools, training or peer support to do it confidently.

That’s the problem REWIRED exists to solve.

At Our Voice Our Journey, we believe that preventing violence against women and girls starts long before a crisis. It starts in the everyday moments — the throwaway comment, the group chat screenshot, the atmosphere that shifts when a girl walks in. REWIRED equips practitioners to notice those moments, respond to them, and build the kind of cultures where they happen less.

What is the REWIRED Network?

REWIRED is a flexible, prevention-led network connecting professionals across youth services, education, local authorities, and health and care. It strengthens how children and young people — with a particular focus on boys and young men — Reflect, Respect and Relate.

At its heart, REWIRED addresses the underlying attitudes and behaviours that drive gender inequality and violence against women and girls. It does this not through top-down programmes, but by building the confidence, skills and community of the practitioners closest to young people.

Settings can engage flexibly, accessing the elements that best fit their context — whether that’s training, resources, peer support, or all three.

Why Join REWIRED?

Working with young people today means facing evolving challenges—from an increasingly complex digital landscape to mental health pressures and relationship dynamics. Too often, practitioners are expected to respond in isolation.

REWIRED changes that.

By joining the network, you gain:

  • practitioner training and development
  • a comprehensive resource library
  • regular community of practice sessions
  • opportunities for children and young people to engage and shape the work.

When boys develop empathy, accountability and respect; for themselves and for others the ripple effect is real. Girls feel safer. Peer cultures shift. Practitioners feel less isolated. And the conditions that allow violence against women and girls to take root are disrupted earlier.
